Built out of brick, the Rotes Kliff  lighthouse, was established in 1913 on the cliff of the island of Sylt in Germany.
This acted as a point of light that warned about the sandy shoals in the navigable channels of the Lister Tief.
There was also additional light to the main lighthouse located in the small town of Kampen - 2.5 km south of Rotes Kliff.
The lighthouse tower is 13 meters high and the light reaches 21 nautical miles (or 39 kilometres).
Lighthouse Rotes Kliff ended its activities in 1975. It was later rebuilt in 1993 by funding from the municipality
of Kampen – it  remains its property and serves as a beacon to this day.
