The Reuchtleuer Gellen / Hiddensee lighthouse has a height of 12.3 m and marks the northern
entrance of the Gellenstrom channel. Built from steel in 1904 by the manufacturing firm Julius
Pintsch AG from Berlin, it stands on natural stone. The light is located 10m above the ground.
It was first tested in 1905 and began service in 1907. As a decorative  motif, Gellen lighthouse
could be found on the 5,000,000 Deutsche Mark banknote in 1927 and in a series of postage stamps.
It is the lighthouse of the now defunct GDR.
With special thanks to Mr. Dieter Matysik for help and support in building this model.
