Alcatraz Island Lighthouse is located on the island of  Alcatraz in California, in the San Francisco Bay
on the West Coast of the United States of America. The islet is primarily known for the now closed
heavy prison built for the most dangerous criminals. The lighthouse was built in 1909 and was automated  
in 1963. In 1970 a fire destroyed  the lighthouse keeper’s building, and still today the lighthouse tower stands alone,
serving as a museum and a tourist attraction. The height of the lighthouse tower is 84 feet (about 25.6 m).
