Pilsumer lighthouse stands on the mainland near Emdem opposite the Borkum island.
It was built in 1891 by "Gutenhoffnungshutte" - one of the largest machinery manufacturers
in the German Empire during the nineteenth century. The lighthouse is composed of forged metal
parts that were riveted to a steel framework. Pilsumer lighthouse is set on a brick foundation
and has a height of approximately 12 m and an outer diameter of 4.4 m.
Inside there are three levels, which are accessed by a spiral staircase.
