North Reef Lighthouse was located 120km east of Yepoon, lying on the east coast of Australia. 
The lighthouse was built in 1878 on a small sandbank which had a coral reef base. The lighthouse had a solid cylindrical base 
with a diameter of 12 m and a height of 15 m. The tower with the lighthouse at the top reached a height of 24 m.
With time, the coral built up around the base of this interesting structure to form a small island with sparse vegetation.
The lighthouse light is visible from a distance of 15 nm (about 28 km). Since 1987 it has been powered by solar energy.
